Project Description: In a research project exploring how augmented and extended reality (AR/XR) could better support our customers' operations, we uncovered a critical issue impacting productivity and costs. Many of our clients face significant challenges when experienced technicians retire or transition to new roles, leaving companies without key knowledge. With the scarcity of seasoned professionals, they often have to hire junior staff who require extensive (and costly) training to reach proficiency.

Another common scenario was the logistical and financial burden of flying experts across the globe to troubleshoot complex maintenance issues—an unsustainable solution as demand grows.

Solution: To address these challenges, I designed an interactive AR prototype using HoloLens technology that provides technicians with a step-by-step visual guide for performing critical tasks. This solution allows less experienced technicians to execute complex repairs or procedures confidently and accurately. Additionally, the system includes a live video call feature, enabling real-time, remote assistance from experts who can offer guidance and advice from anywhere in the world.

By empowering teams with remote expert guidance and visual instruction, this tool is helping companies maintain high standards and continuity even as the workforce shifts.
